ALI HAS POTTERED AROUND CREATING TABLES AND CURATING GATHERINGS SINCE 2012, AND NOW GEORGIE HAS ARRIVED TO CO-CREATE THE MAGIC.
A L I
Growing up, lots of family life took place around our big wooden table that Dad had made. We would spend hours there; eating, chatting, cooking, baking, reading, playing games, gathering people. Now, I love tables. I've always loved hosting events. Amongst others, I have organised pop-up dinners, retreat weekends, parties, charity fundraisers, weddings, book clubs, drinks parties, club nights, and company culture events, both in England and the US. There is something magical about walking into a room where the table is laid - adorned with flowers, candles, and beautiful tableware - and you find your name amongst the place settings. I believe tables create the perfect space for the best gatherings.
I am London based, and you'll often find me chasing the sunrise or sunset, or pottering around the shops with a coffee in hand, before going home to cook up whatever treats I've found. I'll then lay the table, light the candles and welcome guests over to enjoy whatever I've managed to rustle up!
Exchanging my London office job for a rucksack and walking boots on the Camino de Santiago last year turned out to be an unexpected discovery of the art of hospitality. I returned home inspired by the generosity of strangers and intrigued by the significance of these shared moments with soon-to-be friends around the dinner table. It is the memories of home-cooked meals, alive with stories and delightfully unique moments that will never be recreated, which will stay with me for a long time to come.
I’ve always loved hosting people - whether that’s for work with business groups on leadership workshops, church groups on retreat, or for candlelit dinner parties for friends filled with laughter that last for hours. When not at the table with family and friends, you’ll find me cycling or running in the Cotswold hills, jumping on a plane for a solo trip abroad, discovering new places and cultures, and pursuing any opportunity to meet new people and learn new things.
