THE SIMPLE GOAL IS TO INTRODUCE SINGLE CHRISTIANS LEADING PARALLEL LIVES.

Born out of downtown Manhattan in January 2019 these intentional dinner parties seek to welcome single Christians from across the city in a delightfully relaxed way. We (Ali along with a couple of friends who co-host these with me) love the flavour of these beautifully curated events, where guests are welcomed to chat over drinks before finding their way to their place at the table. We like to think that the home-cooked food and relaxed atmosphere adds to the no-pressure environment - but we’ve also had plenty of success stories! It’s called Plus One because everyone loves a partner in crime, so we invite guests to bring their most fun Christian single friend along with them.

Over the years, Plus One has connected friends of friends and random acquaintances from different churches. We bring together an equal number of men and women for dinner parties of twelve to twenty four for a fun and informal meal together. The evenings are set up so that you feel like you have been invited to dinner with friends. In our experience, this works when things stay as relaxed as possible. Guests are asked to bring a specific contribution (a bottle of wine or perhaps dessert). At the end of the evening, guests have the opportunity to pay it forward' contributing to the next Plus One dinner, if they choose. We enjoy not selling tickets, and want to keep it that way.

With a model that has proven successful on both sides of the Atlantic, we’re now excited to cast the net wider than our current circles. If you are in leadership in your church, and have singles in their twenties, thirties or forties, who would be up for meeting other Christians leading parallel lives, we'd love to hear from you.

And if you’re in a different city and have wanted to do something like this but haven’t managed to yet, we’d love to help you make that happen.
